Scarabus Islay Single Malt is a Hunter Laing bottling at 46%, in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. It was released for Feis Ile 2019, when Hunter Laing's new Ardnahoe distillery on Islay had no whisky of its own yet.
The casks were chosen by Jim McEwan. The nose offers sea salt, green apple and campfire smoke. The palate brings warm leather, stewed rhubarb and a pleasing vanilla sweetness, followed by a long, lingering peaty finish with a light sweetness of burnt wood.
