Scarabus is an Islay single malt bottled by the independent company Hunter Laing of Glasgow. The name is Gaelic for 'rocky place' and comes from a place on Islay. This Sherry Cask Edition is bottled at 46% vol.
The whisky was matured in American oak and refill Bourbon casks, then finished in first-fill sherry casks.
The nose combines peat and iodine with dark berries, sea salt, old leather and chocolate sweetness. The palate is intense and harmonious, with peat smoke, chocolate and fruit and a touch of leather. The finish is fairly long, peaty and smoky, with a fruity sweetness.
