Scharffenberger Brut Excellence Rosé NV Mendocino County (75cl, 12.5%)

Scharffenberger Brut Excellence Rosé is a non-vintage sparkling rosé from Mendocino County, California, in a 75cl bottle at 12.5% vol. It is a blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir, with four to five percent of Pinot Noir wine added for colour and fruit balance before the second fermentation. It is made by the traditional method, fermented in the bottle, then aged at least two years on the yeast and six months under cork. Most of the base wines went through malolactic fermentation, and the residual sugar is 10 g/L. The grapes come from the house's own 120 acres and from trusted growers in the county, where cool Pacific influences shape the style. It shows delicate berry aromas and a seamless texture, with notes of cherry, wild strawberry and shortbread.
