Shelter Point Ripple Rock is a small-batch Canadian single malt from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, inspired by the 1958 Ripple Rock explosion near Campbell River.
It is distilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, matured in ex-bourbon American oak barrels and finished in alligator-charred virgin oak casks.
The nose has vanilla, toasted oak, caramel, raisins and a little dark chocolate. The palate brings creamy caramel, raisins, black pepper, clove, toffee and a hint of barbecue. The finish is long and warming, with toffee, dark chocolate and spicy oak.
