Shenk's Homestead Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey is the 2021 release in Michter's Legacy Series, which honours early American whiskey traditions. It pays tribute to John Shenk, whose distillery helped shape early American whiskey making. It is bottled at 45.6% (91.2 proof) in a 750ml bottle. This edition was matured in specially toasted oak barrels, and the toasted oak is the focus of its character. Shenk's is released annually in limited quantities. The nose is warm baking spice, caramel, toasted oak and light citrus. The palate is rich and balanced, with toffee, vanilla, cinnamon and roasted nuts. The finish is smooth and lingering, with gentle spice and toasted oak sweetness.
