Shindo – 4 Year Old 2022 Casky MahJong Series 'Sparrow' Cask 10226 (58.4%)

A single cask Shindo bottled at 58.4% ABV as the 'Sparrow' release in the MahJong series, selected with the whisky bar Casky. The malt is non-peated and was matured for over 4 years in a Virgin American White Oak hogshead in Fukuoka's warm, humid climate. The virgin oak gives a sweet profile reminiscent of American Bourbon, without heavy spiciness. The nose shows sea salt caramel, vanilla, popcorn and crème brûlée, with toasted wood and spice beneath. Sweetness arrives at once on the palate, which is oily and full-bodied. The finish leaves lingering woody notes with soft touches of tobacco and roasted elements.
