Shindo Experimental for CORES.02 is a limited-edition whisky from the experimental series made by the Shindo Distillery (SHINDO LAB) in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It was released in late October 2025.
It is built on a high proportion of heavily peated spirit, matured in five cask types: peated bourbon (67%), unpeated bourbon (15%), virgin Mizunara (13%), Cognac (3%) and Oloroso sherry (2%).
The nose is heavily smoky with peat, followed by the bright character of the bourbon casks. Mizunara oak adds sweet, spicy tones, the Oloroso sherry cask gives body and texture, and a little Cognac cask rounds off the aftertaste.
