Shizuoka Pot Still K First Edition is a Japanese single malt bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 55.5%. It comes from the Shizuoka distillery, founded in 2016, and is made from 100% imported barley distilled in the former Karuizawa stills.
The whisky was matured in bourbon casks, quarter casks and a sherry hogshead.
The nose is fresh, with peanut, dry oak, honey, caramel and vanilla, plus a little minerality and ash. The palate is creamy and oily, with rich caramel and honey, peppery warmth and hints of rose syrup and cocoa. The finish is dry, with oak, mint and lasting minerality.
