Shizuoka United S is a single malt from Shizuoka Distillery in Japan, made by combining spirit from two stills: the ex-Karuizawa coal-fired pot still and the distillery's wood-fired pot still. The first gives bold, rich flavours and the second a softer style.
The spirit was matured in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks.
The nose has candied citrus, stewed pear, malt and a wisp of smoke. The palate offers biscuit, honey, dried fig and warming spice. The finish is long, clean and lightly smoky, with hints of oak and cocoa.
