A Japanese single malt from Shizuoka, distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2025 by Blackadder at five years old. It was matured in a single first fill peated bourbon barrel, number 1403, which gave 198 bottles under the Raw Cask label. The spirit was made using an ex-Karuizawa still.
The nose is powerful and aromatic, with ripe fruit, roasted grains, resinous wood and spice. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with malt, caramelised sugar, pepper, clove and oak, and the finish is very long and warming.
