Shizuoka Single Malt is a bottling from the Shizuoka Distillery, founded in 2016 by the whisky importer Gaia Flow in the Tamagawa district of Shizuoka, not far from Mt. Fuji.
This one was matured in an ex-bourbon octave cask, also known as a quarter cask, and 39 bottles were produced.
The nose offers mixed citrus fruits, vanilla, gentle oak and subtle malt. The palate has sticky toffee, tropical fruits, candied orange peel and building oak. The finish is long and sweet, with malt, molasses, oak and vanilla.
