Smögen 2014/2021 Heavily Peated Swedish Single Malt - Whisky Druid (70cl, 58.3%)

This is a heavily peated Swedish single malt from Smögen, bottled as a single cask for Whisky Druid. It is six years old and comes in a 70cl bottle at a cask strength of 58.3% ABV. It was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2021 from cask 42/2014, a first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, which yielded 314 bottles. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered. The tasting notes describe blackberry, rhubarb, caramelised sugar, milk chocolate, nuts and peat smoke on the nose. The palate is dark and full, with plain chocolate, ripe berries, malt, maritime notes and pine needles. The finish is long and fruity, with smoke and dark chocolate.
