Smögen – Askeim 8 Year Old Batch No. 2 Golden Promise Triple Distilled (50cl, 57.2%)

Smögen Askeim Batch No. 2 is an eight-year-old Swedish single malt, bottled at cask strength, 57.2% ABV, in a 50cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. It is made from Golden Promise barley and distilled three times. Askeim takes a different course from Smögen's usually heavily peated whiskies, with a malty profile that shows little smoke. The nose offers pumpernickel, peppermint and orange marmalade, with grilled aubergine and a hint of smoke. The palate is fruitier and spicier, with rye bread, jam, roasted vegetables, juniper and pepper. The long finish recalls gingerbread, citrus zest and cinnamon, with pepper lingering.
