This is Smögen PX Twin, a six year old Swedish single malt made by vatting two Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads, numbers 41/2014 and 43/2014. The spirit was distilled in 2014 and matured entirely in those casks, not just finished in them.
It was bottled in 2021 at a cask strength of 58.5%, in 50cl bottles, in an edition of 852 for Germany. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
Peat smoke, prune and cinnamon lead the nose, with dark tobacco, vanilla, raisins and a little coffee. The palate is creamy and full, with ashy peat, barbecue spice, dried fruit and butterscotch. The finish is long and dry, with salted liquorice, maritime spice and campfire smoke.
