Smoke Wagon Malted Straight Rye is a cask-strength straight rye whiskey in a 75cl bottle at 58% ABV. The mashbill is 51% rye and 49% malted barley, which gives a character some reviewers compare to a non-peated Scotch. The distillate comes from MGP in Indiana and is aged and bottled in Nevada by Nevada H&C Distilling Co., without dilution. The nose offers lemon zest, citrus peel, cinnamon-raisin bread and cereal, with honey and clove beneath. The palate is creamy, with caramel, cinnamon, black pepper, subtle smoke, chocolate and biscuit. The finish is long and warming, with mint, clove and gentle smoke.
