Smokehead 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt from Ian Macleod Distillers, released as a limited edition. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with added colouring.
It marks a return to an age-stated bottling for the brand, with fifteen years in cask behind its peat smoke, sea salt and herbal notes.
The nose is intense and oily, with salty sea air, preserved lemons, mineral notes and rosemary and thyme roasting over an open fire. On the palate, ash, salt and smoke come first, followed by sweet citrus, vanilla ice cream and barley malt. The finish is very long, with lemon peel, sea spray and a dry, smoky close.
