Smokehead 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt from Ian Macleod, matured in oak casks and bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and is the first Smokehead with an age statement.
The nose is dense, oily, phenolic and salty, with pickled lemon, mineral notes, grilled fish and rosemary and thyme roasting on a campfire. On the palate, ash and salt give way to soft sweet citrus, vanilla ice cream and barley, with earthy peat in the lead. The long finish carries peat smoke, lemon peel and sea spray.
