Smokehead High Voltage is a Scottish single malt from Islay, bottled by Ian Macleod Distillers, who also own Glengoyne and Tamdhu. The distillery itself is not named. It matured in ex-bourbon barrels, and the name refers to its higher strength of 58% ABV.
The nose is expressive, with plenty of peat smoke, a salty note, citrus and freshly ground pepper. The palate brings more smoke, charred oak and a salty touch. The finish is medium in length, peppery and smoky.
