Smokehead Sherry Cask Blast (70cl, 48%)

This is a peaty Islay single malt from Smokehead, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in Spanish sherry casks, which bring rich, sweet and spicy character to the smoke. The nose starts with thick peat, then soft oak, custard and vanilla. On the palate come oily black smoke and a heavy, mouthcoating peatiness, followed by sweet barbecued banana, sultanas and dried fruits. The finish returns to peat with sherry oak sweetness and a sharp, salty note.
