Smokehead Sherry Cask Blast is a limited edition Islay single malt, finished in sherry casks and bottled by Ian Macleod Distillers at 48% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose opens with thick peat, then turns fruitier and creamier, with soft rich oak, custard and vanilla. On the palate the peat is dense and coats the mouth, followed by a sweet, sticky roasted banana note, tart sultanas and nuts.
The finish brings the peat back, now alongside Spanish sherry oak that is sweet and a little unsettling, and ends with a salty, sharp note.
