Smokehead Tequila Cask is a peated single malt Scotch whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in tequila casks.
The nose opens with peat smoke, vanilla and shortbread, followed by almonds, chewy meringue, blood orange and burnt sugar, with an unexpected note of barbecued pineapple. On the palate, smoke and citrus are strong, and peat and malt run alongside toffee, lime and peach, with a touch of charred corn on the cob.
The finish is long and sweet, with a gentle warmth, a splash of citrus and some pepper.
