Smoking Furnace Blended Scotch – Claxton's

Smoking Furnace is a blended Scotch from Claxton's, made from grain and malt whisky with a high share of smoky malt. It joined the Core Range in autumn 2024. The blend is finished in STR casks that have been heavily re-charred, and it is bottled only when the balance between oak and whisky is right. The name comes from the freestanding stone chimney that once filled the air around the Dalswinton Estate with smells of smoke and iron. The nose is rich with peat, glazed cherries and a vanilla custard creaminess, with campfire and a little menthol. The palate is sweet and earthy at once, with ripe stone fruit, oak, heather and freshly baked strudel. The finish is long and sweetly smoky, with a hint of fruit liqueur.
