South Islay 19 Year Old 2007 Refill Port Cask – A Dream of Scotland (70cl)

A single malt from the south of Islay, distilled in 2007 and aged for 19 years in a refill port cask. It is bottled by A Dream of Scotland in a 70cl bottle. The nose begins with maritime peat smoke, salty air and a touch of harbour. A bittersweet fruit note recalls toasted bread with dark jam, and the port adds a soft sweetness without taking over. The palate starts full and smoky, with red fruit and fine malt sweetness, then turns more savoury with black olives and lightly salted bread. Smoke runs throughout. The finish is of medium length, salty, with a flash of sweet raspberry between the smoke.
