South Islay 22 Year Old is a cask strength single malt from Islay, released under the A Dream of Scotland label. It matured in a refill sherry cask and is offered here in a 10cl bottle.
The nose pairs warm peat smoke with dark forest honey, figs and almonds, with orange peel, cold ash, leather and a little sea air behind. The palate is sweet, oily and soft, with honey, smoke, figs, sherry spice, vanilla, lime and dark chocolate.
The finish is long and warming, growing drier, with peat smoke, cocoa and spicy oak.
