South Star Spirits 2013 8 Year Old Islay Single Malt (48%)

An 8 year old Islay single malt from South Star Spirits, bottled at 48% vol. It is a vatting of 10 casks, put together to show the character typical of its region, and is one of the label's first three releases alongside a Highland and a Speyside. 2,200 bottles were filled, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose is rich but elegant, with smoke and a hint of sea breeze. On the palate it is salty, dry peat smoke with vanilla and toasted oak, and the finish holds on to peat smoke, salt and a measure of oak.
