Springbank – 10 Year Old (70cl)

This is a ten-year-old single malt from Springbank, the Campbeltown distillery. It is non-chill-filtered, as all Springbank malts are, and comes in a 70cl bottle. Springbank dries its malt over a light peat fire and ferments in five small larch washbacks for around 70 hours, which is unusually long. Distilling takes place in three stills: one wash still that can be fired by steam or flame, and two spirit stills heated by steam. The spirit is matured in a mix of casks, including bourbon, sherry, rum, Madeira and refill wood. The whole production is bottled on site, using water from the Cross Hill Loch.
