A 21 year old single cask Springbank from Campbeltown, distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2016 at 47.5%. It was filled for Hanseatische Weingesellschaft for the German market, and only 324 bottles exist.
The whisky matured in an Oloroso sherry cask, and sherry leads its character alongside caramel notes, sweetness and salt.
The nose is lightly smoky and concentrated, with fruit, spices, vanilla and some sherry and wood. The palate is sweet and sour, woody and spicy without bitterness, with caramelised tropical fruit and dry wood. The finish is very long, warm and soft, with a hint of smoke, swinging between oak spice and sherry sweetness.
