This is a 22-year-old Springbank from Campbeltown, bottled independently as part of the Forgotten Gems series, which gathers the last drops of rare whiskies in tiny hand-filled batches. It is bottled at 48.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is a marriage of Springbank matured in Madeira casks and in sherry casks. Only 56 bottles were filled by hand.
On the nose there is dark chocolate mousse, burnt cherries, creamy vanilla and a touch of toasted oats. The palate offers dense toffee, fresh juicy tropical fruit and dark berries. In the finish, full malty notes linger alongside cinnamon and cocoa.
