A 24 year old Springbank from the Art of Whisky series by Elixir Distillers, bottled as a single cask in 2017 at a cask strength of 51.7% in a 70cl bottle. Just 160 bottles were filled, from what is thought to be a fresh bourbon cask.
The nose combines bracken and earth with sweet gingerbread, wood smoke, farmyard notes, nuts and creamy sweetness. The palate is oily and waxy, with chocolate, sweet wood, light smoke and citrus zest, and fruit running from apple to grapefruit and passion fruit.
The finish is long, floral and spicy, with candied lemon peel, sherbet and warm honey.
