This is a Springbank Society bottling in a 20cl bottle, at 48.2% ABV. It was distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2021, after at least 28 years in wood.
The whisky is a vatting of four casks: a sherry hogshead, a sherry butt, a bourbon cask and a rum cask. Springbank is a Campbeltown distillery.
The nose is ripe tropical fruit, Black Forest gateau and honey, set against smoked maple bacon and smoked apple-wood cheese, with earthy notes of old library books and oven soot. The palate is velvety, with dark chocolate, rich dark fruit, marzipan and fruit cake. The finish turns saltier and sweeter, like caramel with a pinch of sea salt.
