Springbank – 5 Year Old 100 Proof Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 57.1%)

A five year old Campbeltown single malt from Springbank, bottled at 57.1% ABV, the strength once described as 100 proof under the British proof system. It is matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks and is made from lightly peated barley. Releases are planned quarterly. The distillery does not chill filter or add colouring, and the whisky comes in a 70cl bottle. The nose is bright, with green apple, gorse, wine gums and a mineral note. The palate is oily and sweet with gentle peat smoke, icing sugar and white chocolate, then tomato plant, sunflower seeds and linseed oil. The finish is fresh and warming, with honey, gooseberries and lingering mineral notes.
