Stanhope Kentucky Straight Rye is a Kentucky straight rye sourced from Owensboro Distilling Co. and bottled at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof). It is the rye counterpart to the Stanhope Bourbon.
The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey is aged in American oak barrels with a Level 4 alligator char.
The nose is fragrant, with fresh-baked rye bread, black liquorice, citrus zest and heavy barrel char. The palate is rich and spice-forward, with black pepper, clove and star anise, rounded by dark chocolate, ginger and a little mint. The finish is long and intensely spicy, with a dry, herbaceous character.
