Starward – Muscat Cask (50cl, 48%)

Starward Muscat Cask is an Australian single malt from the Melbourne distillery, bottled at 48% in a 50cl bottle. It comes from the distillery's experimental Projects range and was matured in casks that previously held heavy Australian Muscat fortified wine. The whisky was distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2023, having aged in a mix of freshly emptied and charred barrels. Tasting notes mention roasted almonds, sweet dates and a little cinnamon on the nose. The palate is robust, with dried fruit, oak, vanilla and Christmas baking. The finish brings toasted bread and oak.
