Starward – Nova (41%)

Starward Nova is an Australian blended whisky, made from single malt and wheat distillate in a collaboration with the Manildra Distillery. All the grain, yeast, water and casks come from Australia. It is bottled at 41% vol. The whisky matures in red wine casks that are not charred beforehand, so the wine tannins are kept. This gives it an ochre-red colour and a lightly fruity taste with a spicy close. The nose has strong berry notes of blackcurrant, strawberry and red grape, with oak spice behind. The palate combines red berries with vanilla custard, caramel and baking spices, with hints of the wine cask. The finish is long and fruity, with a little black pepper and light tannins.
