Starward – Nova Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 41%)

Starward Nova is an Australian single malt bottled at 41% in a 70cl bottle. It matures in casks that previously held Australian red wine from wineries making Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The casks come straight from the wineries and are only lightly charred or steamed before filling, so the character of the wine comes through in the spirit. It is suited to rich food, to drinking on its own, or to cocktails such as a Manhattan. The nose is full of red fruit and strawberries, with a Port-like mix of fruit and nuts. The palate has honey, cinnamon and red fruit with a creamy, nutty texture and a touch of tannin. The finish is toffee with walnuts.
