Starward – The Barossa Valley Single Barrel Australian Whisky

A single barrel Australian whisky from Starward, the Melbourne distillery founded in 2007. It comes from a 200 litre red wine barrel of French white oak, sourced from the Barossa Valley wine region. Barrels of this kind previously held Shiraz, Cabernet or Pinot Noir for four to seven years, and the whisky takes its colour from the wine casks. Amber in colour, it has a nose of candied fruit, berries and dark chocolate. The palate is fruity and robust, with red berries and notes of red wine, and the finish is long.
