Stauning – 10 Year Old Peat Smoked Danish Single Malt 20th Anniversary Bottling (70cl, 50%)

This is a ten-year-old peated single malt from Stauning in Denmark, released for the distillery's 20th anniversary. It is bottled at 50.02%, with no added colour and no chill-filtration. It looks back to the early days, when Stauning whisky was made in an old slaughterhouse with home-built equipment and local grain. The vatting is an equal mix of unpeated malt and malt made from barley dried over peat from the Bølling Sø bog. The whiskies matured for at least ten years in bourbon, new oak, port and sherry casks, some of them since the distillery's first years. Campfire smoke sits alongside light fruit, hay and heather honey.
