Stauning Kaos is a Danish blended malt bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It combines three expressions from the Stauning distillery in Jutland: an unsmoked barley single malt, a malted rye and a smoked barley single malt. The grain is Danish barley and rye, floor-malted on site, and the spirit is double distilled in small direct-fired copper pot stills before maturing in first-fill ex-Maker's Mark bourbon casks.
Cereals and dark chocolate lead the nose, with toasted oak and caramel, and cinnamon bark and bonfire smoke appearing later. The palate brings smoked chocolate, nougat, black liquorice, sweet apple and oak. The finish is long and smoky, with vanilla, orange peel, tobacco leaf and dried red fruit.
