Stauning Smoke is a gently peated Danish single malt from Stauning Whisky on Denmark's west coast. It is made entirely from local barley, floor-malted at the distillery and kiln-smoked over Danish peat and heather, then double distilled in small direct-fired copper pot stills.
It matured for roughly five to six years in first-fill bourbon, Madeira, Jamaican rum and virgin American oak casks, and is bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose offers gentle bonfire smoke with crisp orchard fruit, citrus and honey. The palate brings tobacco, nuts, vanilla, herbs and soft earthy peat. The finish is lingering and lightly smoky, with herbs, vanilla and oak.
