Stauning Smoke is a Danish single malt from the Stauning distillery, founded in 2005 by nine friends. The barley is grown locally, malted on site and dried over peat smoke and heather. The whisky matures in four types of first-fill cask: ex-bourbon, new American oak, ex-Madeira and ex-Jamaican rum. The nose is smoky and iodine-like, followed by cereal and tart apple. The palate is cereal, mild spice and cooked fruit, with a touch of honey. The finish brings white pepper and smoke.
