Suntory Hokuto is a 12 year old Japanese pure malt, a vatting of malts from the Hakushu and Yamazaki distilleries. It was launched in June 2004 and named to mark the birth of Hokuto city in Yamanashi prefecture. Bottled at 40% ABV, it comes in a 66cl bottle.
The whisky uses bamboo charcoal filtration, which Suntory adopted in its aim of making an easy-drinking whisky.
The nose is fresh citrus and lime with melon, white peach, guava, papaya, honey and vanilla. The palate is velvety and creamy, with sweet lime, pineapple, soft spice and toffee. The finish is medium, warm and dry, with mint, nuts and oak.
