This Yamazaki 18 Year Mizunara Cask is a single malt released for the distillery's 100th anniversary. Yamazaki is Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery, and only 2000 bottles were produced.
It was aged for at least 18 years exclusively in Mizunara casks, made from Japanese oak that adds spicy and fruity notes.
The nose shows dark cherry and ripe peach with cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is delicately spicy, with orangette and undertones of Japanese incense. The finish is long and persistent, with cloves, sandalwood and a hint of dried coconut.
