Sutherland is a Highland blended malt from Thompson Bros. of Dornoch, here in its 2025 edition and bottled in 2026. More than 73% of the blend is Clynelish, joined by spirit from Dornoch Distillery and a small part from another Highland distillery.
The malts matured in bourbon octaves. After the blend was put together in June 2025 it rested for a further eight months.
The nose combines ripe pineapple and melon with dry barley and almond, and a touch of olive oil. The palate is distinctly waxy, with lemon and caramelised sugar, juicy melon and tropical pineapple. The finish is gently sweet with a citrus note, and the texture is smooth and almost oily.
