Talisker – 10 Years (70cl, 45.8%)

Talisker 10 Years is a smoky single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled at 45.8% in a 70cl bottle. The spirit matures for ten years in ex-bourbon casks, then spends a few months in Amoroso sherry casks. The distillery was founded in 1831 by the MacAskill brothers. After a fire in 1960 destroyed the stills, they were replaced with copies of the originals to keep the flavour unchanged. The nose is strong peat smoke with sea-water saltiness and citrus sweetness. The palate has sweet dried fruit with smoky undertones, strong malt and brine, warming and intense with pepper. The finish is long and smoky, with pepper and an appetising sweetness.
