Talisker – 12 Year Old 2009 Old Particular Single Cask (70cl, 48.4%)

This Talisker is a 12 year old single cask bottling in the Old Particular range from Douglas Laing. It was distilled in 2009, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled in 2022 at 48.4% in a 70cl bottle. The cask gave 347 bottles, and the whisky has no added colouring and is not chill-filtered. The nose opens with freshly ground black pepper, followed by damp earth and smoke. The palate is oily and mouth-coating, with dried seaweed, heavily charred wood and lemon drops. The finish is very long, with barley and brown sugar balanced by streaky smoked bacon and sea salt.
