Talisker 18 Year Old is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled at 45.8% in a 70cl bottle. Talisker opened at Carbost in 1830 and is the only single malt scotch whisky made on the island.
It is brilliant amber in colour and full bodied. The nose has Victoria plums, greengages and dried orange peel, with butterscotch or rum toffee and a thread of smoke behind.
The palate starts sweet, then turns more assertive, with a whiff of smoke and a warming effect. It moves towards smoke, coal-tar and toffee, and the finish is lasting with a slight chilli catch.
