Talisker 25 Year Old is a limited distillery bottling from Talisker on the Isle of Skye, in a 70cl bottle at 45.8% ABV. The distillery stands on Loch Harport and was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth McAskill.
The whisky matured mainly in bourbon hogsheads, with a smaller share in European refill casks. Maritime and mineral notes sit alongside ripe fruit, caramel sweetness, strong spice and smoke.
The nose is maritime, with seaweed, chalk and distant smoke alongside old orange, cider apple, banana and fudge. The palate starts soft and sweet before salt, white pepper and chilli build, with heather, rose and salted caramel. The finish is very long, dry and slightly bitter, with sweet smoke and cedar.
