Talisker Glacial Edge is a 45 year old single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled by the distillery at 49.8% ABV in an edition of 2,455 bottles. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered.
Its finish took place in Ice Fractured Casks, whose staves were exposed to extreme cold. The fine cracks this produces in the wood increase the contact between whisky and cask.
The nose combines seaweed, sea salt and mineral notes with dried fruit, vanilla and sandalwood. The palate is dense and creamy, with toffee, caramel and an elegant saltiness. Gentle smoke, spicy oak and Talisker's peppery character run through the long finish.
