Talisker 8 Year Old Special Release 2021 is an intense Talisker from Skye, in a 70cl bottle at 59.7% ABV. It was put together by Craig Wilson and the Talisker team from casks holding the most heavily peated malts in the warehouse, and shows the maritime, smoky and peppery side of the distillery.
The nose is rich, briny smoke, like beach bonfires and shortbread, set against mineral notes, stewed orchard fruit and salty sea air. The palate opens sweet, then turns to intense smoke, liquorice and aniseed, with chocolate, spice and damp earth. The finish returns to sea breeze and bonfire smoke, with sweet apple compote.
