Talisker Skye is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, in a 70cl bottle at 45.8% ABV. This is a 2017 bottling.
The whisky is made from lightly toasted malted barley. It is matured for ten years in ex-bourbon casks and then moved for a few months into Amoroso sherry casks.
The nose is fresh orange and mango, lightly peppery and earthy, with sea salt and smoke. The palate starts soft and sweet with very light smoke, then salted caramel and honey-glazed barbecue ribs bring sharp spice. The finish is long and warming yet fresh, with pepper and a trace of sweet smoke.
